Technology Reflection

For a while now, my class started using technology in class, known as P.I.D's. P.I.D stands for Personal Internet Devices which we use for multiple reasons.I will also be talking about how they help us in class and what we use them for. I already did the same thing last year in class so I have some extra experience.

We started out with using iPod touches, Laptops/Netbooks, and eReaders. Then we recieved iPads so we started using them (if people already had their own iPads, they brought them in). We don't bring them to school and have fun with them(matters what we are doing), we use then for homework and school purposes. The class uses Web 2.0  applications and sites to help is with our work. We use Prezi, Bitstrips, Voicethread and Blogger. We use Prezi to make presentations and post them or show them to the class, Bitstrips to make comics and share them, Voicethread to get pictures and comment on them (like a slideshow) and Blogger to make blogs and post our work for all our classmates to see. We also use Edmodo to keep in touch with our classmates and teachers. Our class is using technology for alot of  reasons, We use them to look at eachothers blogs/work, finishing our own, independent reading, finding research and more! We still use non Web 2.0 items such as pencil and paper to do our work, not always our P.I.D's.

You might be wondering, how is all this technology helping us learn? Here is how.. it helps us keep in touch with our classmates, its easy to use, if you don't know English well or cant write very good, you can use a translator or  type instead of writing. All this technology use isn't easy, some people get off task and do something else or there are internet/device problems or some people might not have something to use. Our class was able to fix all those problems (and still are). If we go off task, they do something else or get a warning. If their device isn't working or the internet isn't working on someones device, we get someone experienced to help them. If someone doesn't have a device to use, our class has iPads, Laptops and if someone has an extra device, they let them borrow it. There are  differences with using technology and without. Without technology, we would have to write everything on paper, present everything out loud, and keep everything on Binders which take up alot of space. With using technology, we have the ability to write on our blogs and on Microsoft Word, post our presentations and let others see it on their device and they can save it all on their device or on their blog so they have more space. With the technology, our teacher can show us what we are learning with a projector and a smart board.

Not all classes have the ability to use technology like us, and there is alot of problems with using technology. This is our class with technology!
