On March 26, 2011 the people everywhere participate in Earth Hour. Earth hour is when you turn off your lights, electronics and basically anything that runs on electricity to conserve energy. This happens 1 hour a year. This has been going on since 2007 when people in australia started it, now the whole world does it. People believe that we can save alot of elecricity just by not using electricity for only an hour a year! This is an event hosted by WWF (world wide foundation). His event shows a big difference on how much electricity we use each day. When 1 person saves electricity for an hour, an hour of electricity has been saved, imagine about a billion hours of electricity saved just by saving electricity for 1 hour! that is a huge difference.
I think that Earth Day happens because people are tryingto save electricity and make everyone participate to consider saving electricity. Lot of people in the world are now starting to save electricity even if it's not earth day. I believe that this can go for more than jus 1 day a year but maybe more. This has been happening for 4 years and I know that we can go for a long time. This also saves money because you save alot of the electricity. ERth day is A great way to save electricity and I hope everyone in the world will know that. :)
